Ticket Inspector Jumps to Save Commuter at Kalyan Railway Station

In what is nothing short of a miracle, the life of a 20-year-old commuter was saved by an alert ticket inspector, who prevented the former from being pushed under a moving train. Closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage showed Shashikant Chavan pulling the commuter away from the train after he tripped from its gate and was headed for the gap between the platfrom and the coach.

incident took place on Friday, 16 February, when Chief Ticket Inspector Shashikant Chavan had just finished his shift was talking to his colleague. The commuter, Sandeep Sonar, who hails from Gujarat, had just managed to clutch onto the gates of the Lucknow-bound Pushpak Express, when he lost grip and fell down.
Worried that Sonar could lose his life, the ticket inspector rushed to his rescue and dragged him to safety. He was joined by other officials and soon a crowd gathered at the platform. The Indian Railways has decided to honour Chavan, an employee for 26 years, for his alertness.
