Dear Members,
I have a return ticket for tomorrow from Madgaon to Mumbai in the Madgaon-LTT special which leaves Madgaon at 15.00 hrs. Although my boarding station shows Madgaon in the ticket, is it permitted to board the train from Thivim (which comes exactly after an hour)? Do you think within such time the ticket collector is authorised to issue this ticket to some other passenger? If so, what then needs to be done to avoid ny such inconvenience?

change of boarding point :
if a passenger desires to occupy reserved accommodation from any station enroute, he would be permitted to entrain at any intermediate station he chooses irrespective of the distance from the starting station subject to the following conditions :
a specific request must be made in writing at the station from where the ticket is purchased and reservation made atleast 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the starting station.

railway administration reserves the right to use such accommodation from the originating station up to the station at which the passenger is due to entrain.
no refund will be permissible for the portion of journey not performed by the passenger.

Thanks for the reply.
In that case, what is the best way out for me as I have etickets which were electronically purchased? Do I still need to inform the railway authorities at the starting point?

If you are going tomorrow, the 24 hour rule is applicable and officially you have no other solution but to catch the train at madgaon
