Advantages of BDTS-NZM Maharashtra SK
(1) It Runs on a much better route fully double, electrified and 130kmph max speed. where as Kar.SK runs on slower route with single line patches.
(2) It has higher avg speed 71/65kmph against 65/61 kmph (via NGP), 57/55 kmph(via UBL) of Kar. SK

Disadvantage of BDTS-NZM Maharashtra SK
(1) But the priority of Karnataka SK is higher than other SFs (Karnataka Exp) on the route where as Maha SK is not having higher speed/priority than other SF Swaraj Exp.
(2) Craze/ patronage of Kar SK is higher as it is second to SBC Raj and weekly Durontto. 3 Rajs, GRs etc have shadowed the Maha SK.

Inspite of LHB coaches, speed of Maha SK is still 110kmph, speed upgradation to 130kmph can make this train much more useful. Its speed as well as priority can be easily upgraded to make it a much better train. It can be operated at 130kmph, just 5-7 minutes behind the Mumbai Raj with daily frequency to cover the distance in about 16 hrs. instead of 20/21 hrs.
