Yes..Link Exp used to run between PGT & MAQ till 1997 from where it was extended to Trichy till 2003. From 2003 onwards, it got extended further to MS. Similarly there was another Link Express running as slip portion to Kerala Exp were it used to bifurcate/amalgamate at PGT & run as 2625/26A PGT MAQ PGT link Mangala Exp as my Screen name suggests. This train also had through coaches of Island Exp to MAQ attached/detatched @ PGT(I have extensively travelled in this train during my childhood having wonderful memories). This continued until 1993 when Mangala Exp was made an Independent Train (MAQ-NZM via Kerala Exp Route). So, to fill the slot of 2625/26A Link Exp, the MAQ CBE MAQ Fast Passengers were introduced from 1993. In 1998, Mangala got diverted & got extended to ERS when the Konkan route was opened.
Thanks for that Slip portion update. Now I get understand your Display name.
So far 2 train's history unveiled, which had base at PGT. If anyone has some interesting details of PGT based trains to share, atmost Welcome.

Gives such a nostalgic feeling. Some Golden days of busiest PGT.
Today I had a casual discussion with a Rly staff and was astonished to know that earlier Rlys used to run spl trains to melmaruvathur (ML) from PalakkadTown(PGTN) with TT something similar to preset day CBE-ML spls(06067/68) during Aadi months. Those trains hd all UR coaches with PGTN dep at noon and next day arrival at ML. There used to huge crowd especially women for those trains and agents from all over Kerala used to travel back and forth booking tickets in bulk nos:.
