WR TO RUN LAST EVER DC LOCAL TRAIN ON 4TH FEBRUARY, 2012
WR will run the last ever Direct Current (DC) local train on its suburban network on Saturday, 4th February, 2012 as a special train from Bandra to Churchgate. It will depart from Bandra at 12.30 hrs and halt at all stations enroute.

DC-AC conversion of Borivali-Virar section has been completed in 2007 while the section between Borivali and Vile Parle has been converted into AC traction in November, 2011.
In the last leg of Conversion of Electric traction of WR's suburban network from Direct Current (DC) to Alternate Current (AC), a mega block is planned on Sunday, 5th February, 2012 between Churchgate – Andheri.
In view of this, the last local train will be run. It will be a historic moment as it will herald the end of an Era of DC locals which served the Metro City of Mumbai consistently for last 84 years.On this occasion, an exhibition showcasing the evolution of DC local trains on Western Railway will be organized at Churchgate station concourse on 4th February, 2012.
The special train will be open to commuters who can travel in it with proper ticket.
