When ever I book a train ticket and it says side upper or side lower its a mixed reaction. Even though some may argue that a confirmed side seat is better than a no seat or WL.
A side upper/lower in a 3-AC can be a great thing but the same side upper/lower seems like I have been cheated when its in a 2-AC coach. This can be only me but I feel Why should I pay an extra fee for a Side seat which is same in the 2-AC and the 3-AC.

1. The measurements of Side Berths in 2AC/3AC differs.
2. The total number of passengers in a total compartment of 2AC/3AC differs.
3. In trains like Raj/Shatabdi/Duronto any and every 2AC berth comes with the facility of enhanced food quality and quantity.
4. Less probability of occupancy of washrooms.
