Ballari - Hosapete - Koppal - Gadag section --- Railfanning and info update.
1. Pics 3 - 7 : Ballari station.
- The old building has been demolished and some work is going on.
Old remnant of the steam engine era - water filling pipe.
2. Pics 8 - 13 : Some LHB train passed. It had Deen Dayalu, Antyodaya and AC coaches.
3. Pics 14 - 30 : Till HPT
- Industries, Power Plant, lot of freights.
- Electrification poles have been erected from KDN to a few Kms after DAJ - no progress from the last time I saw.
4. Pics 31 - 44: Hosapete.
- HPT to KBL the track has been laid, even over Tungabhadra river bridge. But still track linking and signalling is left. Similar to RDI-ASK line, where they are taking ages to complete the work even though the main track laying is complete.
- There is a sleeper manufacturing factory after HPT, there too some track issue I guess as the track is very close to the compound.
- The new personnel resting room can be seen in one pic.
- The line to KTY deviates immediately after the PF. Sugarcane field is next to it and then the line from KTY towards KBL joins.
5. Pics 45 - 51 : Munirabad and Hitnal.
- Hitnal has no PF, it is located just before the NH connecting Hosapete and Vijayapura.

13. Gadag
- B3/C1 of Hampi.
- The BZA Express' one GEN coach has been decreased. The train got real empty at GDG. It looked more like empty shunting b/w GDG and UBL :)
Some art adorning the walls of the station.
- Too many freights problem. Both the BGK line freights and HPT-VSG freights congest this station. Compounding the problem is the LR required for all the trains to and from BGK line. Too many freights is a problem at BAY, HPT, TNGL stations with freight occupying PFs. At HPT and TNGL I saw they occupied 2 PFs and that leaves one PF to operate passenger trains from.
- A board depicting the amenities available at GDG.
- CKBK Pass - some sort of wax melting and sealing was done to the luggage compartment.
- This is a good station for layover b/w trains.
If we walk out of the station just within half a Km, good hotels are there serving clean, fresh food. Reasonably priced. Also some bakeries which have North Karnataka specialties like Karadantu, Dharwad Peda.
