Sunil Kumar Bhardwaj^~ 6249 blog postsAll those have become History now.The Bankura Damodar Railway (acronym BDR) (also referred to as Bankura Damodar River Railway) was a narrow gauge line, built and operated as part of McLeod’s Light Railways, in Bankura and Bardhaman districts in the Indian state of West Bengal. Yesterday I went to Bankura because its very close to me. I have spent 4 years of my childhood there. My father spent his entire childhood and youth and did his schooling. We lived near the narrow gauge line and the steam engine used to pull 3 coaches twice a day daily. At that time there were both BG station and NG station on opposite sides to each other. But in 1995 this line was closed and slowly slowly everything became history. The Bankura loco shed used to have many types of steam engines. Different classes and varied rolling stock. But...

Well, i have seen these pictures. In the second picture, the train has halted and passengers are boarding/deboarding the train. In those days, this was a halt....no platform, station board, no building, nothing.
Made me Nostalgic.
I have been to Bankura as One of my Close friend used to stay there.
I have visited Bankura atleast 4-5 times a Year between 1996-2003.
