Right, till the time restrictions get relaxed, SR should co-operate and cancel Kannur portion of train which runs as slip via Hassan daily and In place of that we can get intrastate slip's three days from Bjp/Bgk/Ubl to Mangaluru and four days a week from Bidr/Gr/Rc/Bay to Mangaluru. Anyhow there is one more train to Kannur from Ypr daily via Salem, this one can be adjusted.
That's good for discussions, but practically, doesn't look likely. Any reduction of coaches/quota from SBC in the ONT's will be very problematic. As it is, just the diversion of the ONT via Nelamangla was not welcomed by passengers on the Mysore route. Now if half the train is diverted/extended to GR/BIDR, there will be a lot of backlash from SBC/MYS passengers.
These half-baked solutions will not work. Only lifting the restrictions on either the Braganza or Shiradi routes will solve these problems.

Even if Gr train via Mys and Ubl train via Sbc is provided, that is also fine, people of state are desperate need for coastal connectivity with 10% quota on extended portion. That is what highlighted in this news also, where there is not even single train fro intrastate, Mangaluru are getting many for other states, this Antyodaya is 5th such train in sequence. Among 2 trains Kannur, the one via HAS can be extended to UBL/GR, if railways thinks fairly on this inequality.
But one more option is their and pPl trying for that from years it's new line between Hubli Ankola which can be good connection to connect Mangalore with Hubli Bijapur Belgaum Gulbarga Bidar Miraj Pandarpur and solapur also. If this new line is get done then both shiradi and braganza ghats can be skipped for trains going to Mangalore or Goa from Hubli side.
Agree, but that stuck in environment clearance. Which may take another decade to materialize
