not city, you are considering population of whole district , city wise alwar is smaller
Population wise Alwar is at 8th position in rajasthan acc to wiki
Citywise may be, but Districtwise it is at the 2nd or 3rd spot surely. By the way, you guys can check huge gathering at any train arrival
See, this is why I was hesitant to respond. You used district population as a metric, others here used city population. You think a 'huge gathering' at the station qualifies, somebody else might think that this crowd size is not as big as the crowd at Jodhpur, for example. And none of us know the exact criteria IR uses for actually deciding a stop properly. In most instances, new stops for any existing train are usually announced due to political pressure more than any other logical reason anyway.
