Extract from the 1961 Southern Railway Timetable, showing the now closed Visakhapatnam Town railway station (Code- VSP).
Originally there were two stations in VSKP. The present day VSKP station was originally called Waltair Junction (WAT). About 3 km after WAT, there was another station called 'Vizagapatam'. This served the fishing town of Vizag. By 1944, the Vizagapatam station was renamed to 'Vizagapatnam' and by 1956, it was renamed to Visakhapatnam Town. The station was closed down from April 1964.
Till the time the station was

closed, there were link trains operating from VSP to WAT. A train, the 3A link mail used to connect to the MAS-HWH mail at WAT (This is seen in the attached image). Another link train used to connect to the WAT-MAS passenger (later changed to connect to the Hyderabad-Puri passenger). For people familiar with the city, this station was located near the present day Lakshmi Talkies park.

yes , the old line is present still in dilapilated condition. The line from VSKP ends near St. Johns Parish Church, 500 m from Lakshmi Talkies Park.
Station was closed after the Rameswaram Cyclone happened in 1964.
My Uncle was posted there in 1964 in Indian Naval Lines

It's not related to the 1964 cyclone I guess. The cyclone was in December 1964, while the station was closed from April 1st, 1964.
