Originally there were two stations in VSKP. The present day VSKP station was originally called Waltair Junction (WAT). About 3 km after WAT, there was another station called 'Vizagapatam'. This served the fishing town of Vizag. By 1944, the Vizagapatam station was renamed to 'Vizagapatnam' and by 1956, it was renamed to Visakhapatnam Town. The station was closed down from April 1964.

yes , the old line is present still in dilapilated condition. The line from VSKP ends near St. Johns Parish Church, 500 m from Lakshmi Talkies Park.
Station was closed after the Rameswaram Cyclone happened in 1964.
