Why IR runs these special trains? These are always neglected and get late. I travelled from Bhopal to Kopargaon and back on 19th and 20th March respectively. Both trains were late by 5- 6 hours. The train towards Koparagon reached Bhopal at 23.30 and reached Kopargaon at 11.00 hrs (almost six hours late). On return journey 0471 reached Kopargaon at 01.30(i.e. past midnight). You can imagine what a nightmare it must have been for us With little childeren and old parents at a railway station like Kopargaon which has pracitically no facilitles at station or around it (city is 4 kms away).

Indian Railways runs special trains to accommodate extra passengers during peak season. For this purpose, they have to re-use old/spare coaches, engines, etc. Also, since special trains are not part of the regular rail traffic, they have to wait longer at signals, and allow regular trains to pass.
So, travel in Special trains involves frustration, and is usually uncomfortable. You should use them only as a last resort to get from A to B, if you are not getting tickets in other trains.
