Travelling to Gadag entails one to travel to Hubballi or via Ballari, which is circuitous. That's where this station comes handy. From here, Gadag, and Laxmeshwara are near and easily accessible.
This is more useful during the day time when there is no day train to Gadag. So you can take Vishwamanava and get down here and walk just a few hundred meters towards the main road. There itself bus stop is there for NWKRTC buses going towards Gadag. There are plenty of buses. It costs about 50 Rs and will take some 1.5 Hrs.

Very useful tip. I always wondered why Siddhaganga got halt at Yalvigi till I got to know this info.
That is why new track will be constructed to link Yalvigi and Gadag. Then, trains from Bijapur Side can directly go via the new line towards Arsikere bypassing Hubli.
Yup this tip is useful as many ppl use yalvigi as destination and take bus towards Laxmeshwara Gadag which is quite convinient in day time travelling and even new line sanctioned as Gadag Yalvigi which was planned long back from British ppl under Southern Maharatta Railways which was and will be helpful to Laxmeshwara shirhatti Mulgund towns and Ppl from Bijapur bagalkot Gadag can also travel towards Haveri Ranibennur Harihar DVG Hassan MYS SBC with less time bypassing GDG-UBL-Yalvigi stretch.
