Serving Veg food only is better option..But that too will have loose ends, food is optional now in Raj/Shat category trains and can't stop a passenger boarding with NV if he carries from home or gets delivered by order for non premier trains its much more difficult to decide the choice of food provided since its not served by Rlys by default.
But have to give a pat on the back for the traveller being a NV from start later got changed and now looking for unique thought.
Several issues need to be deliberated!!!

Air India switched to vegetarian only food for Economy class and it worked out just fine so I dont think logistics is an issue. However with new options for ordering food to your seat from outside and also the possibility of bringing your own food does make it challenging. There is no legal mechanism for public transport to be segregated into Veg and Non-Veg zones so I dont see how this will work out.
Agreed! Points to the diversity and uniqueness is India! How many of us would have guessed that this person is Muslim, or even Christian for that matter, if the name was not provided in the article?
We would have read Ahmedabad and assumed a vegetarian Hindu Gujarati!
