We booked 6 berths UHP-DEL 8.4.12 3 weeks before when status showed 96 available seats(booked from Delhi - counter tkts), giving LB as preferrence and one passenger as Sr. Citizen. We got 2 side berths, 2 UB and 2MB and no LBs in Coach S2. During journey we found two LBs were allotted to Sr. Citizens in S2. These tkts were booked on 7.4.12 (whereas railway status shows WL 45. Can u please let me know how we did not get even a single LB and how the person party got confirmed 2 tkts when WL was 45. Taneja:

U seem not have read my query. I opted all 6 LBs and 3 weeks ago where other party got confirmed tkts when status showed 45 WL. Pl tell what is Lower Berth quota and how to book seats under this.
Lower Berth quota is give senior citizens, male over 60 years and female over 45 years travelling alone. So you need to book separately if you have to avail this quota
When you booked your tickets, no empty lower berths were available. Therefore, you got berths as you were allotted. During the three weeks, a number of tickets were cancelled and two such berths were allotted to the tickets carrying status 45. The important thing to remember is that any cancellations which happens after the first round of allocations are reallocated only at the time of charting.
it always happens. So many tyms it has happnd wit me. I booked 2 tickets for my parents betwn maq and mas, one sr citizen. 42 seats avbl in 2A.
And they alloted me a upper and side upper :(
