Most small vendors present in KGP tend to charge more than MRP for food items and water bottles. This has happened to me not once but twice. The first time I bought a packet of chips which was labelled as Rs 10 MRP(standard price). However, the vendor charged Rs 15 for it. Since I was in a hurry to catch my train, I did not notice it only to find out about it later in the train while I was about to throw the packet in the dustbin.

it happened when I went to buy a bottle of water. The MRP is Rs 15/litre(standard railway rate and also printed behind) but the vendor asked for Rs 20. When I asked him why he was overcharging, he started making excuses about it which were really stupid.

My advice would be to carefully buy any food items in this station. Remember that not all vendors overcharge and so, if you find some vendor overcharging, don't panic as you will always find one nearby who is willing to sell at the right price. Be patient and always have some extra time at hand so that you don't get conned.
