RTI- Top 10 Revenue Producing Rajdhanis from NDLS/NZM.
Result- Dibrugarh Rajdhani 12424 is big daddy and almost 40-50% ahead of Number 2 Sealdah Rajdhani (No effect of Dynamic fares) 😲
Once KIR-GHY is electrified, 12424 can become most profitable Rajdhani as well 🙏

No surprise that it has higher revenue. End-to-end ticket itself costs almost 50% more in DBRT Raj than HWH or SDAH Raj. In addition, it also travels for almost 1000km more than HWH/SDAH Raj and will cater to more passengers.
Profits will not scale that way. Even with an E-loco, the energy cost for the large distance will be very high.
For reference, check the Bibek Debroy committee report that came out a couple of years ago - /blog/post/2964246

back then. the DBRT Raj had more earnings than trains like 12951/52 and 12301/02. But the operational costs were much higher. While the cost would reduce slightly after electrification, it will still be high enough that there will be a net loss or very marginal profit.
Long distance trains typically get the highest revenues everywhere. The higher fare (for long distance travel) alone accounts for much of the increased revenue. But the profits do not scale accordingly. Trains like Kerala express are among the highest revenue earning trains in South India, but do not feature in the 'high profit' lists, because their operational costs are als0 much higher.
