how about this idea? say, i want a confirm berth at any cost and all chances of my tkt entering rac but confirmation is next to impossible...or say very remote...so if i book two tickets and as per my pre-planning both the passengers enter rac...and chart prepared as both rac...so i get a confirmed berth...i tell the tte that the other passenger cancelled his ticket and take a non travelling certificate from him and claim the refunds from prs/irctc later...i also get a confirmed berth...and that too side lower...the only risk involves if the ticket gets confirmed, 50% of money will be lost....still safer than tatkal...what say?

no...this cannot be done...tte may allot confirmed vacant berths to others...not wl passengers to rac...he cant say a wl passenger to share a berth with rac...then watz d meaning of rac?rac is to be provided cnfrm berths as soon as vacancy arises...be it non travelling of berth sharing pax or non boarding of any cnfrmd pax...once rac allottment is done, only then wl/ur pax are entertained....this is as per law....in practice what happens we all know...but never seen a passenger been asked to share rac if his co-passenger(his rac partner) is absent...
