“Even if it is a policy matter to be decided by the Railway Board, why is the issue not being referred to the board?” they said in the memorandum.
They said Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, Raichur and Koppal districts in the Hyderabad Karnataka region fell in four railway divisions — Solapur, Secunderabad, Guntakal, and Hubballi — that function under three railway zones — South Central Railway, Central Railway, and South Western Railway.
“A request to get a railway amenity like a new train from Kalaburagi to Ballari has to pass through the divisional railway manager in Solapur, the general manager of Central Railway in Mumbai, the divisional railway manager of Guntakal and the general manager of South Central Railway in Secunderabad as the entire area has been fragmented and assigned to different railway divisions and railway zones,” they said, and stressed the need for bringing the entire Hyderabad Karnataka region under one railway division with its headquarters in Kalaburagi.
They have also requested a new train from Kalaburagi to Kolhapur to facilitate pilgrims from Hyderabad Karnataka to visit Kolhapur Mahalakshmi temple.
Pointing to the reservation hassles in Bengaluru-bound Yeshwanthpur–Hassan Express, Udyan Express, and Basava Express trains, the trade body requested introduction of a new train between Bidar and Bengaluru via Kalaburagi, Yadgir, and Raichur.
