I had missed travelling on this new line for a long time.
In 2016, I missed the CRS inspection by a day. Then on the inauguration of RDG - KYND, I missed and went to BAY, expecting the inaugural train to start from there.
Then again missed the inaugural of KYND - KRYP.
Then a couple of times this train was late to arrive

at BAY, so I left.
But yesterday I was determined and waited for the train no matter what.
It was detained at GTL for more than an hour and then arrived at around 12, 1.5 Hrs late.
-
Pics 3 - 6 : Personnel approaching the loco with Metal token and handing it over to the LP and himself boarding the SLR at RDG. He would later do the loco uncoupling/coupling at KRYP.
-
Pic 7 : Board indicating that Metal token needs to be taken before entering the section
-
Pic 8 : The line to JRU bifurcates .
-
Pic 9 : One signal towards RDG. One more was present after RDG station towards ALAT. Only 2 signals, the entire section works on the token system.
-
Pics 10 - 23 : ALAT, deserted just few got off. A long bridge across a bone-dry Vedavati river. The entire region is parched and hardly any farming is carried out. This is one of the driest regions of the country. On AP side some places have converted to windmill farms. On Karnataka side, solar farms. Not many villages too, so no stations inbetween.
-
While seeing this region I remembered a quiz answer by one member Arun, that's when I realised why the stations are so far-off from one another, hardly any villages.

Pics 24 - 37 : KYND. At this town, many deboarded and many waited for this train to return.
Time seems to have stopped for these 2 trucks :)
I saw them in 2016 /blog/post/2094512 they are still there rusting away.
-
Pics 38 - 51 : At KRYP, construction is still going on. New PF has been built and getting cured, I was told that when the track laying of Kambadur happens, they will lay track here too. A lot of height barriers were getting painted to be installed at RUBs on the KRYP - KMBDR section.
-
Speed : The new line has good speed. It took less than an hour for the RDG - KRYP travel. Considering the slow crawl at the 2 intermediate stations to switch from mainline to PF line due to the points, 64 Kms in less than an hour was great.
-
BAY - RDG - 70, RDG - KRYP - 80, RDG - JRU - 90, Vedavati river bridge 65.

Did you see the metal token in close-up? How did it look?

No I didn't see from close-up. I could make out cylindrical metal object with a handle.
-
I distinctly remember the token at BAW given for NMGA Pass. Box type.
Differs every place, I guess.

It's just an indication that a train has entered the section and none will be allowed till it comes out.
-
GIN I haven't seen, with so many crowding after it reached back from CKBK after inaugural.
