The fare charges is zero - Nil for 2 and half year old kid.
ALthough it's provided in the form to fill up the name of baby with age in the form.... But in case you do not fill up or forgets to fill up.. .. do not worry.. there will not be any problem... The TTE won't object. Enjoy such free travelling till your child completes 5 yrs age and thereafter enjoy minor concession (50% in base fare) till your child age is under 12 yrs.

In APSRTC buses, fares will be taken for 3 years child also. May be the person asking doesnot know the 5 years limit
the names are asked for record. If there is a accident or robbery in the train it is used for identification and head count only.
