They run this service instead of keeping the rake idle at LTT.
on other days the rake is used by 12294/12293.

It ain't going to do any good rather doing bad running empty rakes. You didn't take the LP/ALP, Guard and Sectional Traffic into the consideration.
In my belief run the train always where there is at least 50% occupancy.
