Why cant thhe train make use of Chord line and then come on Hwh mainline and take the reversal ?
I agree with you Sir... While the EMUs from HWH go to Panskura to get a loco reversal, but the Express trains from Howrah side (ex. Paharia, Tamralipta, Duronto, etc) take the bye-pass line and skip Panskura.. Again, the Express trains coming from KGP side (ex. Samudra Kanya, ASN-Digha, ASN- Haldia) goes over Panskura, and at most probable, gives a halt there..
I think HWH - HLZ EMU must touch Panskura. The reason is; the daily passenger coming from KGP side can board the EMU from Panskura. But is the EMU takes the bypass line (which was mainly for goods rake in earlier days) then the KGP passengers going to Haldia have to travel all the way upto Mecheda to take bus. It will coat them extra an hour. I think the current arrangement is good.
The first express train (inagurated by Madam duirng NDA regim) was from Shalimar Haldia which use to take the bypass lane and had stoppages at Santragachi, Mecheda, Tamluk and HPL gate (forgot thr name of the stop probly Durganagar). I don’t know if this train is still in...

Shalimar- Haldia Express is discontinued now... Currently, there are two Express trains running from Haldia. Namely Haldia Chennai Weekly Sangrami Express and Haldia Asansol Express (6 days a week)..
