NEW RAILWAY PROJECTS IN TAMIL NADU
SHRI S. SELVAKUMARA CHINNAYAN:
Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has any proposal to start new railway projects in Tamil Nadu especially Erode-Palani Railway project; and
(b) if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI RAJEN GOHAIN)
(a) & (b) 8 New Lines, 5 Gauge Conversion and 9 Doubling projects
falling fully/partly in the State of Tamil Nadu are in various stages of planning/sanction/execution.
As regards, Erode-Palani new line project, this project has been frozen due to low operational priority and refusal of Government of Tamil Nadu to provide land free of cost and share 50% of construction cost of the project.
