As such the timings of 16102 is pretty inconvenient; it's scheduled to arrive MS at 0330(so might be crossing TBM at 0300).
Moreover, 16102 leaves QLN at 1145, well ahead of all other MAS/MS bound overnight trains (16724 leaves at 1500, 12624 at 1600 & 12696 at 1815).
To add to this disadvantage, short terminating 16102 at TBM at odd hours might only turn counterproductive. Also, TBM - MSB suburban services begin after 0400.

Think about passengers from MS with heavy luggage. They have to change trains,and take TBM ticket from MS at Tambaram which is very inconvenient. And for the return, EMU services would only start at 4 am, for which, pax have to wait for an hour at TBM, which, is again inconvenient. Instead, some North bound trains can be shifted to TBM, which is being dome currently.
Not required. Let it run from/ to MS as it is the only train connecting MS with stations between SCT and QLN. Moreover, it is because of the persistent efforts and follow ups of the Kollam MP this train has been introduced from MS instead of TBM. Anyday starting/ terminating from MS is far more convenient than from TBM.
