Till december 2018, According to Operating ratio data of IR, NORTHERN, EASTERN, SOUTHERN, SOUTH CENTRAL, KOAA METRO, etc r the worst performers and LOSS makers of IR. While EAST COAST, SOUTH EAST CENTRAL, SOUTH EASTERN, EAST CENTRAL, etc are the BEST Performers of IR... Those zones having more freight movement r the best performers coving the loss made by the zones like ER, NR, SR , etc which r mainly passenger carrying zones
Indian Railways should immediately pull its hands off from Kolkata metro's operations and management. Why the tax payers from around the country should pay for Kolkata metro's subsidised tickets!!! It's also unfair to the people of other cities having metro system like Delhi, Bangalore etc. Either give subsidy to all or to none.
Kolkata Metro must be handed over to a new organisation or private company to save it from the sluggish development by IR. Still IR is not ready to install platform screen doors, replace old snap prone rakes and introduce security checking at metro stations inspite of high ridership in the section. I hope that the upcoming East-West line won't come down to the level of existing North-South.
