Friends, probably you all know that there is a concept called 'Monsoon TT' at Konkan Railway (implemented after the tragic Matsyagandha accident in 2004). During the months of June to October all the trains running on Konkan get considerably slower for safety purpose (75 KM/H top speed AFAIK).
Do you think similarly there should be another concept called 'Winter TT' at those area of our country which get heavily affected by fog during The months of December to February?

Few years back, IR tried something similar to tackle train delays due to fog. Many daily trains were given a day's off. But during that year fog was not that bad and on most days trains were running with nil or minimal delay. So IR rolled back it's decision and never implemented it again. What I feel is, instead of changing timings, IR should arrange enough spare coaches to tackle delays. This is possible given the huge turnout from ICF every year. Different Time Table followed during monsoon in KR is due to lesser MPS trains which is very important for safety reasons. Nothing much can be done to that. But slow running of trains due to fog is mainly because of poor visibility. In case of less or no fog, trains run fast. Moreover, fog is highly unpredictable. So delays are not the same every day. Fog delays can be...
