What are the reasons behind its slow TT.? Any plans of speed increase any time soon?
When introduced,it used to cover SHC-PNBE in 4 hours..It was heavily slowed down by 50 mins last year..ECR believes in slow & steady run for most of the trains..
Anything lesser than 4 hours b/w SHC-PNBE will be too aggressive considering the current infra..SHC-MNE section is single line..There are plenty of curves & bridges..Trains run on restricted MPS of 80 kmph..BJU-MKA section is another headache with single line on massive Rajendra Bridge over The Ganges..

Even when run on original TT of 4hrs runtime , its avg won't get near 55 and as you say due to geographic and infrastructural limitations can't be speeded above that ,. On the contest they have slowed it down and added stops; so they should permanently degrade it to m/e category.
Or some regional lawyer may file pil in court to save people's money.
Many state's rajya rani exp are non sf trains(like kearala,odisha,kk,Assam,mh) , so no prestige issue here like that of kgm shatabdi

Stops add Nahi hue hai but haa slow down Hui hai..fare Express train ka Lena chahiye.
