Railways is decreasing the speed of this train day by day. Initially it used to start from Howrah at 6:25 am and used to reach Tatanagar at 9:45 am. Thus, it used to take 3 hrs, 20 min to cover 248 km from Howrah to Tatanagar. Before the introduction of Duronto Expresses, it was the fastest train from Howrah to Tatanagar. But now it has been slowed down by 18 minutes. It now takes 3 hrs, 38 min. So, apart from the Howrah - Mumbai Duronto express, 4 other expresses take lesser time than this train to reach Tatanagar from Howrah. It is also the slowest train while travelling from Barbil to Dangoaposi. The fastest train from Barbil to Dangoaposi is Barbil - Tatanagar Passenger (Train no. - 58104).
