If you see old Railway budgets..there was a project of SER in budget which was " Construction of 2 nos. new Island platforms at Hijli stn. along with other modernisation works to develop Hijli as a Satellite Terminal to Kharagpur". This project was in later Railway Budgets Dropped by RB or SER.
That earlier projects was with the vision that few EMU trains from Howrah to Kharagpur was to be Extended to Hijli.... and with these facilities many trains from Northeast side to South India was planned to be shifted from kharagpur to Hijli with removal of loco revarsal at kharagpur. But later what we saw ..... all projects related to development of Hijli as a Satellite stn of...
