As per a report published in today's newspaper IR has claimed that by 2021 there won't be any wait listed passenger on Kolkata- Delhi route. When asked on how they are going to do it, they have said that they will increase the operating speed of all the trains on that route up to 160 Km/H. As a result, average speed of all the existing trains will significantly increased and many new trains will be introduced. Thus the wait list will be cleared.

Duranto, rajdhani jaisi trains me waiting khatam kar sakte h unka fare increase karke, baki to Sf trains me possible nahi h.
Reservation / Train on-demand is difficult, but not impossible
* After commissioning of DFCs, number of freight trains on the NDLS-BCT/HWH routes shall be very less or negligible and these routes shall be like Dedicated Passenger Corridors. Absence of slow-moving freight trains shall substantially increase the sectional capacity and avg speed of express trains, and many new trains may be started thereby reducing the waitlists (maybe eliminating W/Ls).
* 160kmph speed shall not be possible for premium (fully ac) trains on full route. Jump in avg speed from 80-90kmph to 100-110kmph is...
