If I have a General ticket, Can I board Shatabdhi Express, if seats are available.. and is it permissible to pay difference fare ? Or pay fine..
Technically it's not allowed. But in Jalna Jan Shatabdi and Madgaon Jan Shatabdi have seen several general ticket holders boarding the train and blocking the gates and gangway and the TCs are helpless.
U need to check with TC before boarding if he has a fare difference chart to collect excess fare. Otherwise you will be treated as ticketless travellers. I have travelled in Humsafar with GS ticket and TC has issued difference fare ticket. Its better to book in current reservation 3 hrs before the dep time and board rather then directly jump into the train and lot of people are buying tickets in current and most of the seats are being filled.
