SDAH division is adding goods locos to passenger trains and passenger locos to goods trains. Hilarious! 🙄🙄
Is there any chance that the WAP loco health could be affected because of hauling goods train?
"P" locos are geared for speed and acceleration (more power, hence a touch higher RPM) versus "G" locos that are geared for pulling more load at lower speeds (more power lower rpm by way of more torque at lower rpm). That's basically the difference. Considering these differences, the P locos would generally run a touch higher rpm, but not significant enough to have an impact on wear and tear (they would be designed to operate at higher rpm).
It should be noted that WAP-7 engines are very powerful though (6300 HP) only followed by WAP-4 (5500). The diesels are far less powerful (4500 HP for WDP/G locos) so they should have more power at lower rpm too even when geared for speed....
