When did you Tried to Cancel the Ticket? According to new Rules, If seats are confirmed when the chart is prepared for the originating station or any previous Remote Station, the ticket can't be cancelled online and you have to file TDR. So at the time you tried cancelling tickets, if chart has been prepared for originating station that is to be checked
yes its correct. I tried to cancelled before 1 day of my start journey and am able to file TDR only. I booked from vskp and the train starts from guwahati. My ticket got confirmed from other station this came when am trying to cancel. "if in the case at the time you tried cancelling tickets, if chart has been prepared for originating station " will i get half of the money or only reservation charges will b deduct? I got half of the money only. when this new rule imposed in railways?
I think you should get the fare as per your boarding station. i.e. if cancelled 24 Hr before dep, less 40/60 Rs or 25% deduction before chart prep. But during TDR filing which option you select may matter.
I dont remember exactly when the change was made but it was blinking on IRCTC site Banners
