Why you would think it would not be useful for passengers of Pune, it would be usefull for both Mumbai and Pune passengers mostly for passengers of Panvel.
Already Mumbai has good connectivity to all places
If u r going via Mumbai then What about Ahmednagar , Daund , Solapur passengers
Solapur passengers have only option is via Daund and Pune also

First one was only ok , why need to reroute it via ahmednagar. Did you think about the passengers from Lonavala, and other passengers from remote areas from Mumbai like Panvel? , Lonavala passengers have to do break journey by going to Kalyan or Pune while going towards Northeast side like Jabalpur, Itarsi, Lucknow and other cities.And nowadays all North trains from Pune go via Kalyan, Panvel Instead of going via Ahmednagar and Daund.
