In continuation of past locos of IR, today it's turn of WCG 1. These locos were built by SLM Switzerland with traction equipment from Metropolitan Vickers. These employed a unique bogie design of C-C. This means, it had 2 traction motors with each motor driving 3 wheels through a connecting rod mechanism similar to that used in steam locos.
These had power rating of around 2250 HP and were homed at Kalyan Loco shed.
Introduced in 1928, these were classified as EF/1 till independence.

locos design so successful in Swiss Alps, performed remarkably well in Ghat section of GIPR (present day CR) too.
Lovingly called Khekadas, these locomotives were retired in late 80s thereby having an astounding service life of more than 5 decades.
It would be 1995, when another Swiss origin pair of white and green locos would enter service on IR.
