India bangladesh se is region main highest trade surpluss of 9 billion dollar per year enjoy karta hai isliye agar free bhi diye tu koi issue nahi bas bangladesh se relationship kharab nahi huni chahiye.
Ye diesel engine railway ku free dene padege ya fir scrap karne padege itna jayda electrification kar diya hai.

Railway ke liye diesel engine bahut badi problem ban gaye hai, izzatnagar ke latest 30 emd pillibhit pe khade hai 2 mahine se kyuki izzatnagar elocos ku maintain karega ab.
2-year lease was the initial deal, and BD never actually wanted these locos permanently. They just wanted these to bridge the gap, as you rightly said. But, it is IR who is giving these locos for free permanently as per their own wish.
Maybe because IR has too many diesel. Ek side 100% electrification target. Dusre side GE ko tender deke baithe 1600 d-locos ka. Agar 100% electrification krna hi h toh ye 1600 d-locos ka kya jarurat tha? Waste of money.
