Just nitpicking here. The JTJ-BNC line was not opened until 1864. Troop movement by rail would not have been possible, as the tracks were not completed.

It is true that JTJ BNC line was completed in 1864 but 12601 MAS MAQ mail is the oldest train running as of now in Indian Railways
I thought 12658 SBC MAS mail is the oldest train running as of now but I was shocked when I saw that 12601 MAS MAQ mail is the oldest train

I too though the same. KA Gov's official document states opened for traffic in 1864 /blog/post/4667860.
Yet as it was posted by drm thought this might be right. thanks for clarifying
