In the later 60s it was running between PURI and Hyderabad and PURI with the numbers 45 Up/ 46 Dn. Later it was extended up to HOWRAH . Then in may 1975 its run was curtailed between BZA and Hyb. It was named as EAST COAST EXP and running between BZA and HWH. Some coaches of East Coast Exp were attached to KRISHNA express (TPTY HYB TPTY) at BZA.In 1985 again KRISHNA EXPRESS and EAST COAST EXP were separated .For some time the remaing portion of the East Coast Exp was running up to GUNTUR.There were a lot of changes in its terminal points and timing.But the two digits 45/46 has not been separated from the train.

Earlier it was SCR train with Train no. 7045/46 later rake was transferred to SER with new train no. 8645/46, now it is train no. 18645/46.
This train has another unique feature in train number, presently it is SRC CDO train but train number is still of Hatia CDO " 186XX".
