Looks like SR doesnt want to give up the freight operations on the MAQ port and MRPL /Kudremukh Iron Ore mines.
Yes correct. It is quite clear from railways end as well that going forward freight revenues will obviously play an important role in overall contribution of revenues. Compared to other zones like SER,ECR , SECR or ER contribution of freight revenues in SR is very less. Hence whatver little they earn from freight revenues they will not let it go.
Thats Doesn't adds up.. from Krishnapatnam, Chennai to Mangalore almost all Ports Comes under SR
You may read the below article. Ports in southern India TN and Kerala hardly contribute to rail traffic. But within the few ones which contribute MAQ is surely there. The article is a bit old, but not much has changed from then it seems
