As per recent plans, the Y link will only be used for freights going towards Chinchuria, Kulti and may be for trains like TATA-DNR, TATA-Chhapra/Katihar to avoid reversal at ASN. Post completion of Damodar-Mohishila doubling many existing trains will be diverted to decongest ASN. Mohishila is being planned to act as an alternative station for Asansol.
As per this news Damodar-Mohishila doubling will get complete very soon
Doubling is almost complete. Only the vital COCR trials with axle load testing are pending. Post which Damodar-Kalipahari section (Category: DS) will have MPS of 110 kmph in approx. 11 km out of 11.6 km stretch.
Non-availability of Pitlines at Purulia is the only problem then in starting this New train?
Pitline is secondary concern. Trains can have PM at HWH like other intercity trains. What actually restricted operation in this route were unavailability of slot in ER and extreme congestion in BURN-ASN section.
