more... Bhaga (VAA) MEMU, which was to depart from plaform- 1 behind the Express train. And on platform- 2, Asansol (ASN)- Adra (ADRA)- Kharagpur (KGP) Passenger headed by TATA WAG- 5 was standing, would would depart further behind our MEMU. In the background, you can hear an alco honking repeatedly to snatch our views. It was doing some shunting works at the adjoining Asansol Electric Loco shed, which is India's oldest Electric Loco shed.
Asansol Junctions falls on the 126 kms Shaktigarh- Sitarampur quadruple line stretch of ER, that connects Kolkata with Delhi. But all the three trains mentioned over here would take the branch line heading towards SER via Burnpur, and Joychandi Pahar (Junction). After that, the MEMU and the Passenger will take the line going towards Adra.
At Adra, the MEMU will get a reversal, and follow the Adra- Santaldih- Bhojudih- Bhowra- Bhaga route.
From Adra, the Passenger will follow the Adra- Bankura- Bishnupur- Kharagpur route.
And from Joychandi Pahar, the Express will follow the Purulia- Tatanagar- Kharagpur route.
15930 follows the Dibrugarh- New Tinsukia- Simaluguri- Mariani- Dimapur- Lumding- Chaparmukh- Guwahati- Kamakhya- Rangiya- New Bongaigaon- New Alipurduar- New Cooch Behar- Dhupguri- New Jalpaiguri- Kishanganj- Malda Town- Rampurhat- Siuri- Andal- Durgapur- Asansol- Burnpur- Purulia- Tatanagar- Kharagpur- Bhubaneshwar- Khurdah Road- Vishakapatnam- Rajahmundry- Vijaywada- Chennai Egmore route of NFR/ ER/ SER/ ECoR/ SCR/ SR.
At Durgapur, the train gets a rake reversal and loco change from diesel to electric.
At Kharagpur, the train gets the second rake reversal (and loco reversal).
At Vishakapatnam, the train gets the third rake reversal.
Overall, the train covers a distance of 3336 kms with 46 halts, and running time of 68.5 hours.
