Hijli station is 5 km away from Kharagpur Jn and situated just outside the campus of IIT Kharagpur. Reserved taxis and auto-rickshaws are available for a quick commute of around 15-20 minutes.
Shared auto-rickshaws (Tata Magic and Vikram) are also available from KGP. To avail of these shared autos, one has to exit from the South Side (the main exit/railway township side) of the KGP railway station and walk straight for 130 m to Bilimoria petrol pump. Then one has to board an auto headed towards Prem Bazar or Salua and get down at the IIT Puri Gate stop, which is situated on top of a flyover.
