departing from Kanpur Central at the dawn, both CNB Shatabdi and Ranchi Rajdhani departed at the same time. Initially, Kanpur Shatabdi overtook Ranchi Rajdhani somewhere near Kanpur Goods Marshalling Yard, while both were running parallel to each other at pretty good speed.

Later in the day, Kanpur Shatabdi met Magadh Express at Aligarh Jn and both of them became a spectator as Ranchi Rajdhani flew past them. Kanpur Shatabdi feeling utter shame had to do something to uphold the last shred of its reputation, so it overtook Magadh Express at Aligarh.

Magadh Express was the first one to reach Aligarh (atleast it was 1st somewhere) and yet it was the last one to depart, all thanks to the huge slack in its timetable.
