I was just analyzing the journey run of this train.

1. I notice that this train takes same time to reach from TVC to MAJN both during monsoon & non monsoon. It is shocking to discover that it covers this stretch at an avg speed of 59kmph much below the avg speed of other Rajs. If it runs at min. of 80 kmph in Kerala state alone, it would reduce travel time by minimum of 2.5 hours. This stretch has double lines which can withstand 110kmph, so attaining 80kmph should

not be a problem.

2. The Avg speed of the train in Monsoon at present between PNVLto NZM is 68 kmph when 12951 BCT Raj attains 90 kmph avg. Thus another couple of hours can be saved if its runs at min 90 kmph.

3.PNVL – BSR is now fully AC section. GOC WDP 3 can be replaced with WAP 5 /7 at PNVL itself to make it run faster in PNVL – BRC stretch.
Same goes for the pair train 12432. If the above is taken care, only then will it become a premier Raj train of Kerala.

By speeding up and giving priority it can reduce the running time from NZM to Panavel by minimum one hour from existing running time and also reduce 45 to 50 minutes from Panavel to Mangalore especially during non monsoon period. Further the present running time from from Mangalore to Shornur was set up way beck in 199, when the whole section was single. Since, it is passing this strech during night, it can save another 30 minutes in this section also. Recently SR decided to increase the speed of train in Shornur -Ernakulam strech another 20 minutes can be saved. Hence, my suggestion is if the Northern Railway decides to fine tune the existing timetable, the running time of this train can be reduced by a minimum of 2hrs 30 minutes in both directions.
