Surprised to see RSA train boards, (with brindavan exp). What is the need for RSA, when both trains have independent rake?

Yes. Thats what even I felt. RSA is not at all required and wont make any difference.
As a traveller RSA doesn't make any difference nor the IR gets any benefit as both are day trains running in same direction. IR is a transport operator and they need to balance rake management, wear and tear, maintainance schedule. Kovai has less turnaround time or just 5 hrs-6 hrs in CDO while Brindavan has more time for PM of 8 hrs every 4 days and having RSA both of the rakes travel equal km on an avg per month without compromise on mainatainance.
Agreed. But my concern if they were able to run the trains separately with ICF rake, then why not LHB? 6hrs PM is required be it ICF or LHB.
Earleir SR was Struggling with Kovai to meet its maintenance as the TAT time was way too short. A minor delay of 15-20 minutes also was impacting its return run, as it had pit slot at 23.30 to 5.30.. Now after RSA, they can have breathing space, as Incoming Brindavan will go to PM and depart as Kovai next day. Delay in Coimbatore Chennai Kovai wont hamper schedule of MAS SBC Brindavan. Infact around 1980's both had RSA apparently, later removed and Kovai was given RSA with 2677/8 (Current ERS ICE). This RSA planning was in SR's list for along time, due to mismatch in Coach composition due to AC CC , it was on hold. Now CC is same , hence continuing the RSA.
