The time table of this tain is adjusted considering only pune to mumbai passengers.If departure time is advanced by 2-3 hrs, train can be extended upto Surat via kalyan-vasai road.So that ther will be daily train for south-maharashtra people towards gujrat.
.Yes.I agree.Its schedule should be so altered that it reaches kalyan between 7.00 to 8.00 A.M., so that kolhapur ,miraj, sangli, karad people have one more train which reaches early in the morning in mumbai.No waste of day as it happens for current sahyadri scedule.
Also it will reduce bourden on Mahlaxmi express

this train is essentially the earst while Poona Mail, which eventually was extended to kolhapur after DQ took over. So natuarally the schedule was designed to cater mumbai pune passengers. Thngs dont seem to have changed since. And frankly this train does get patronage not primarily from pune junction but all the suburban stations around pune. This is the only train apart from sinhagad which halts at multiple stations around pune. if this is moved around, it will cause a lot of inconviniencce to daily passengers boardin this train
More imortant is the fact that it is the only morning train out of pune that halts at dadar
