1. Myanmar was a Muslim country until 1937. British played a devious game by sending a certain SPM to Yangon & led Burmese Bengali Muslim population to shift towards Bengal. Bengal was having a 55:45 ratio between Hindu & Non Hindu Population until 1937. After Burma got separated & Burmese Bengali Muslim population shifted towards Bengal, Population of Bengal had a change in ratio & became 49:51 between Hindu & Non Hindu Population by 1941. Pakistan was demanded at that time & after the 1947 partition happened, Bengali Hindu areas of Brahman-Beria, Mymensingh & Sylhet were forcefully given to Pakistan.

West Bengal got these districts:- Coochbehar(joined in 1947), Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Dinajpur, Katihar, Rajmahal, Birbhum, Nadia, Burdwan, Bankura, Jamshedpur, Purulia, Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Jessore-Khulna & Barisal. Malda, Murshidabad was never given to WB. Also at that time difference in decision between Sir Radcliffe & Lord Mountbatten took place. Mountbatten wanted Partition of Kashmir & giving Arakan region of Myanmar to Pakistan. On the other side, Radcliffe rejected both proposals & gave away Arakan to Myanmar. That's why Sylhet Referendum happened as Sylhet was given to Pakistan as a compensation for Arakan & During referendum, the certain SPM made Hindus move out of Sylhet so that Muslim League wins.
3. Meanwhile, a Sylhet like referendum in Kolkata was sought by Muslim League. The idiot SPM agreed & Referendum was held in Muslim League HQ in Mallickbazar. SPM lost the referendum & Kolkata fell in trouble. Muslim League was planning another 1946 Rerun & were ultimately defeated by INC-CPM joint front under Shri Gopal Chandra Mukherjee aka Gopal Pathha, Gopal Nath Bhattacharya aka Boro Gopal & Chandicharan Upadhyay aka Ranochandi. Muslim League HQ was brought down & Muslim League members fled to Dhaka. But Radcliffe gave away half of Dinajpur with full areas of Jessore-Khulna & Barisal as a compensation to Pakistan for not getting Kolkata.
4. WB which got approx. 111500 Sq.km of Land lost approx. 20000 sq.km & ended up with approx. 91500 sq.km land area. To compensate WB for losing out half of Dinajpur with full areas of Jessore-Khulna & Barisal, Malda was given as per people's demand mandate & Murshidabad was given to supply Hooghly River with Ganga waters. WB finally got 100000 sq.km area.
5. But in 1948 State reorganization saw WB loosing out Dhubri, Bongaigaon to Assam. WB lost Katihar, Rajmahal, Jamshedpur & Purulia + Dhanbad & Ranchi to Bihar. WB lost a part of Midnapore to Odisha. But SPM remained silent & did nothing to stop further partition of WB. It was Dr. BC Roy who with joint action committee of INC-CPM got back Purulia in WB by 1955-56.
6. WB after partition got approx. 111500 sq.km area & within 10 years of Independence WB ended with 88752 sq.km area, a loss of approx. 22748 sq.km land area.
7. During 1952-53, when SPM was forcefully detained in Kashmir, he remembered his blunders during WB partition & wrote letter to PM JL Nehru to release him & he will rectify his mistake & bring back half of Dinajpur with full areas of Jessore-Khulna & Barisal in WB & Muslim majority Malda & Murshidabad will be given back to Pakistan. But before the letter reached PM JL Nehru, Pakistan may have used it's agent & killed SPM in captivity.

PM Rajiv G felt guilty for not helping Kashmiris during 1990 Pakistan controlled Exodus/Genocide/Carnage in Kashmir & it was his remorse that he was ready to expose Pakistan in front of the World in 1991. But sadly we all know how PM Rajiv G died.
