I am yet to roll my head around the TT of this train. Upto Khalilabad, it runs like a decent express train. But post that, it becomes worse than a passenger. The only reason I can think of is that IR wanted to slow it down enough so that they could sell it as an LJN GKP Overnight train[which IMO, isn't feasible considering that dual electrified tracks has made the route much faster]. Heck, it even stoppages at Sihapar Halt and I am quite sure even the DRM GKP will struggle to explain if ever, anybody has deboarded at these stations.

It was introduced as Gorakhnath Exp to connect Lucknow-Gorakhpur as comfort overnight ICE which later share slot with two trains (one been Shaheed)!!
Later Gorakhnath Exp got extended to BSB & become daily Krishak (I am not sure but Krishak was ICE in GKP-BSB past GC)!!
It has to serve GKP-BCY as ICE & hence GKP arrival can't be pushed at wee early hours!!

The constraints of modern travel means a train TT has to evolve according to the needs. For eg. BDTS - BJU Avadh Express was originally AGC-LJN Express and infact, ran at it's original timings b/w Lucknow and Agra as an overnight train. But recently, it's timings got changed and it's no longer an viable alternative b/w LJN and AGC. Same goes for this train. IR is artificially squeezing this train to be slow despite there being no reason to be so. In fact, I had argue, if GKP-BSB sector is so important, it's better to run a dedicated ICE than a long distanced SL based train. And as for serving an overnight train b/w Lucknow and Gorakhpur, that is now better served via the Barhni route[IIRC, a train already runs overnight via there]. The main route via BST is such that even a dead end crawler such as Lucknow Barauni can...

do it in seven hours. In this case, technology has marched ahead and left little need for an overnight train that has a weird RSA with an ICE type train.

You can't push it's departure ex LJN to keep arrival stable ex GKP!! In British Era, MAS Mail & SBC Mail were kept slow for comfortable arrival ex destiny (Beypore Mail via Coimbatore use to take 18 hours & SBC Mail as linked portion took 12 hours)!!
Awadh has been extended way beyond scope of AGC-LKO which isn't applicable for Krishak which still is bifurcated in LJN-GKP & GKP-BCY!!
